Our step-by-step admissions process is designed to help you come to know if a partnership with Live Oak Academy will be a good fit for your family. We firmly believe that God has a special plan for each child, and we join you in praying for God’s guidance as you follow each step in our admissions process.
We ask that both parents read these documents, which will give you a glimpse of who we are at Live Oak Academy:
Our Information Night is an important part of the admissions process, and we highly recommend that both parents attend the first available event. At Information Night, families will be informed in depth about our educational philosophy, what a Christian and classical education means at the Academy, how it is incorporated into the classroom, how the parent/academy partnership works, and much more. We also have a separate breakout session for families interested in grades K-3.
We want to get to know you and your student(s). Please submit our Getting to Know You Form. We will need your submitted form five days prior to a scheduled Class Visit and Shadowing Day.
Class Visit and Shadowing Days will be announced at each Information Night. Parents with students entering K-6 are invited to sign up for a class visit when at least one parent has attended Information Night. Prospective students for 7th-12th grades can request to shadow one of our student hosts in their classes for half a day to get a feel for what it is like to be a student at Live Oak Academy. Class visits and shadowing are not required.
When you decide to apply on our portal, the application fee must be submitted. Note that the application fee increases for late applications, usually on or near May 1. We ask applicants to submit online as many of the following supplements as possible:
- Copy of the most recent standardized test taken (no earlier than last two years) – grades 2 – 12
- Transcript or grade report for past two years – grades 4 – 12
- Reading list for past one year – grades 2 – 12
- Two writing samples from past one year – grades 2 – 12
- Family photo – all grades
- High school questions and written response to questions (to be completed by applicant – grades 9 – 12
- Signature acknowledging respect for LOA’s Education Philosophy and Confession of Faith
The Student Application and supplements will be reviewed by the admissions committee.
All applicants will receive a full assessment. See the assessment fee table on Tuition and Financial Aid for information about assessment fees.
Family Interview. Both parents and the applying student(s) are required to attend a family interview with the Headmaster and a Department Head. Immediate family members can attend, and occasionally other significant family might be required to attend. The purpose of the family interview is to further explore whether Live Oak Academy and the family are a good fit for one another. Your family will be informed of the admission committee’s decision within two weeks following the family interview, but normally much earlier.
